Walk This Way: Ron Bachman

Friendly Wheels, Issue 5
June 2008

A proud and loyal Amigo owner since 1980, Ron Bachman was born with a congenital birth defect characterized by the non-development of the lumbar region, spine and sacrum. His legs were stub-like with no function and at the age of four they were amputated. Without his limbs, he perfected "walking" on his hands. Oftentimes responding to inquiring minds, "You walk that way, I walk this way."

Ron's parents raised their three children in a "no nonsense" household. Chores were assigned and their middle child was expected to carry his share of the load. Ron recalls his parents telling him, "We will not be here forever -- you'll need to find a way to take care of yourself."

"It's Not Easy Being Green," -- or is it?

Friendly Wheels, Issue 3
April 2008

altKermit the Frog once proclaimed "being green" wasn't as easy as it seemed -- but today, "being green" isn't as hard as Kermit once thought. Earth Day is on April 22, and there are many small steps everyone can take to be more environmentally friendly.

At Amigo, we realize the importance to protect our environment, so we have made many changes to become as eco-friendly as possible in all aspects of our business. Just by being an Amigo owner, you are supporting a company that strives to be green through our environmental mission statement.

My Amigo and Me

Friendly Wheels, Issue 1
February 2008

By: Vicki Bridges

I drove my car up and down the road twice, but could not see the numbers identifying the addresses. I was going to have to ask for help. I struggled with my walker to enter a restaurant thinking they would know of nearby businesses. The maitre d' asked if he could help me, and I said, "I'm looking for Amigo."
