New SmartSensor by Amigo

When Al Thieme, Amigo Mobility president and founder, received a letter from Richard Lysle at Kendal-Crossland Retirement Communities in Pa. asking to create a product for their residents' safety -- he was immediately interested to help.
Executive Director of Kendal-Crossland, Lysle said "The use of (power operated vehicle/scooters) carts is integral to the life of our community... we are encouraging all manufacturers to review the idea of a safety design." Increasing numbers of mobility cart impact injuries and property damage have been reported in recent years.
After several years of design and testing, Amigo developed the SmartSensor to help provide safe mobility and impact avoidance inside retirement centers or independent living sites. This innovative technology is a safety benefit for you or a loved one living in these environments.

During sensor activation, the Amigo POV/scooter is safely limited to a top speed of 2.3 mph indoors and designed to avoid pedestrian impact. Detecting an individual up to 30 inches ahead, the system gently slows forward speed bringing the driver to a gradual stop safe from impact.
The SmartSensor option is available on select Amigo models for $250.00 at time of model purchase. The SmartSensor may be retrofitted on most rear drive Amigo models with a hi/lo controller (having a speed control knob) at a cost of $540.00 (new controller required).
